Atlas Shingles Review

by admin on September 9, 2011

Atlas shingles offers the consumer with two distinct categories of shingles. These are Atlas singles that come in the architectural and 3 tab. Atlas shingles have the feature of a three dimensional design. They are made from more than one layer of material, and this enables to enhance the overall appearance and performance of the shingle. It also makes it more closely to resemble a natural shake or slate shingle.

The extra layers of the Atlas shingle are often composed of layers of laminate. Atlas has manufactured architectural shingles under six product lines: and they are Pinnacle Designer shingles, Storm Master LM, Chalet Stratford and Glass Master Alpine.

Atlas Three tab shingles have two notches. These two notches are cut into the lower edge of the shingle. This is what gives the shingle the appearance of being a 3 smaller shingles, as against 1 large shingle. Atlas shingles are made with 3 tab shingles under two product lines, being Glass Master and Storm Master. Atlas Roofing Corporation has been in the business of production of a single line of shingles from 1981 when they commenced business in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1981 onwards Atlas has expanded their product line and expanded the manufacturing facilities to over 19 facilities throughout the world.

The warranty given on Atlas shingles varies according to the product line. Consumers have the option to select shingles that can carry either a 35- or 45-year limited warranty which is almost as good as having a lifetime warranty. Some of the shingles also carry the exclusive Algae Resistant warranty. In general, Atlas singles have these warranties to offer.

The warranties cover manufacturer’s defects and Atlas will offer replacement materials for the damage, but not covering labor costs. They do not cover damage that has been as a result of improper installation, or poor roof ventilation and also home settling and improper maintenance, or for acts of God such as hurricanes, earthquakes, lightning, wind that has speeds in excess of what is stated in the warranty. The warranty covering for the algae-related damage applies only to the algae-resistant shingles (ARS). ARS-treated shingles come with a warrantee for 10 years against the algae. All of Atlas warranty covers the wind damages for winds that blow up to the specified mph that is stated in the initial warranty. So the Atlas wind warranties are valid for 5 years from the date of the initial installation. Atlas’s product line in addition does also include foam insulations so it would be a good idea to go in for this as well. Atlas acquired Falcon Foam the producers of foam insulation from the Owens Corning in the year 2000. Falcon still continues to market their products under the Falcon Foam brand name although Atlas has bought it over.
